Hey guys, I'm stuck between the DeWalt DWE6423 and Makita BO5041K random orbital sanders. I'm refinishing a deck and some furniture, so it'll see heavy use. I've heard Makita has better dust collection but DeWalt is cheaper. Any experience with these? Pros/cons?

I've been a carpenter for 40 yrs. Makita all the way. Their dust collection is miles ahead. DeWalt's bag fills up fast and clogs. The BO5041K has the pad brake too which stops swirl marks. Spend the extra cash, you'll thank me later.

I'm just an apprentice but I used both at work. Makita is smoother and quieter. DeWalt feels more powerful but vibrates more. If you're sanding for hours, get the Makita. Also, the Makita has variable speed which is nice for different materials.

I'm a weekend warrior and I got the DeWalt on sale. It's fine for my needs but if I used it daily I'd want the Makita. DeWalt's hook and loop pad wears out quick. Makita's paper seems to last longer. So depends on your budget and usage.
