Hey guys, I'm a weekend warrior lookin to upgrade my sander. I'm stuck between the DeWalt DWE6423 and the Makita BO5041. Mostly do furniture refinishing and some drywall. Which one's got better dust collection and feel? I've read mixed reviews online.

I've used both. The Makita is smoother and has less vibration. Dust collection on the Makita is pretty good with the bag, but if you hook it to a vac, the DeWalt might actually be better cause it has a more direct port. The Makita's trigger lock is nice for long sessions. Since you're weekend stuff, either will work. I'd lean Makita for comfort.

DeWalt all the way! Makita might be smooth, but DeWalt is built tougher. I've had my DWE6423 for years and it's still going strong. The dust collection is decent, and you can find parts easily. Plus the hook-and-loop pad lasts longer. Don't believe the Makita hype, Steve.

Hank, you're a brand loyalist, haha. I've got both brands, and honestly the Makita is smoother. But yeah, DeWalt is solid too. Steve, if you can, go to a store and hold each one. That'll make the decision easier.

Thanks for the input! I'll try to get my hands on both at the local hardware store. Leaning Makita for the comfort, but good to hear DeWalt is tough too. Appreciate it!
