Hey guys, stumbled on a clearance at a local hardware store. Bosch ROS65VC-6 Random Orbital Sander for $99 (normally ~$169). It's one of those with the dust collection canister and 5.0 amp motor. I mostly do DIY stuff, sanding tables, cabinets, etc. Is this a steal or should I pass? Never owned a Bosch sander before.

Great price! But remember, that sander has a lot of power – make sure you use proper PPE, like a dust mask, especially if you're not hooking it up to a vac. The canister helps but it's not perfect. Also, if it's a clearance, check for any used/damaged units. But for $99, that's solid. I've used that model, it feels well balanced - less fatigue.

Bosch makes quality tools. I own their drill and driver, but for sanders I'm a Festool guy myself (don't hate!). However, that's a great deal. The ROS65VC-6 has a nice pad and variable speed – great for finishing. You might want to buy some extra sanding discs too. Just be aware it's not the quietest, but that's expected with the power. If you're serious about DIY, you'll never regret a good sander.

I use that sander on jobsites all the time – it's a workhorse. The dust collection is actually decent if you attach a vac directly, but the canister works for quick jobs. For $99, grab it! You'll save time and your arms won't go numb like with cheaper ones. I'd also suggest getting a soft pad for contours if you're doing furniture. Just don't oversand– easy to burn through veneers with that power.
