Hey everyone! Was at the big box store today and spotted a DeWalt 5" random orbital sander marked down to $59. Normally it's like $120! It's the corded model DWE6423. I've been wanting to upgrade from my cheapo one for refinishing some old furniture. Should I grab it or is there a catch? Seems like a steal to me!

Sarah, that's actually a solid tool. I've had that same model in my trailer for 3 years now - use it almost daily for finish work. At that price, it's a no-brainer if it's new in box. Check the pad condition and make sure it's not a return with worn parts. DeWalt's service network is good if anything goes wrong. Way better than the budget brands for pro use.

whoa nice find! my boss would kill me if i bought more tools lol but ive used my dads similar one for smoothing out some wood panels in my van. only thing i noticed is it can get kinda hot after like 20 mins? but for furniture you probably wont run it that long. $60 is less than i spend on pizza in a week so id say go for it

Thanks guys! Rick - it was sealed, so should be good. Paul - good point about the heat, I'll keep sessions short. I'm gonna go back tomorrow and snag it. Any recommendations on sandpaper brands to pair with it? My current stuff is probably junk.

Stick with Diablo or 3M Cubitron for the discs. They last 3x longer than the store brands. Get a variety pack from 80 to 220 grit. And buy the hook-and-loop style - that DeWalt uses that system. Pro tip: blow out the dust ports with compressed air after each use. Enjoy the new tool!
