Saw this article and thought it might spark some discussion. I know we're mostly here for sanders and DIY, but politics can affect tool prices and availability. What do you all think? Will businesses actually flee California? And how might that impact us DIYers?

Honestly, I try to keep politics out of my shop. But if businesses leave, it could mean fewer local stores and higher prices online. I'm all for saving a buck, but I also want my tools to be affordable. That said, I doubt many tool companies are based in CA anyway. Most are in China or the Midwest. So maybe not a huge impact for us?

I care more about precision than politics, but economic instability can affect supply chains. If companies flee, we might see more counterfeit tools or lower quality control. I'd rather pay a bit more for a Makita that lasts than deal with junk. But hey, that's just me. Also, isn't this a bit off-topic? We should be talking about sanders, not taxes.

I'm with Mike on this one – let's keep it about tools. But since we're on the subject, I'll say this: I've seen businesses leave CA for Texas and Florida, and it hasn't affected my ability to get sanders. If anything, more competition keeps prices down. So I'm not too worried. Now, can we get back to debating random orbital vs belt sanders? I need a new one for a deck project.
