Hey guys, was at a garage sale this morning and found a barely used DeWalt 20V Max cordless sander (DCW210B) for $50. It's got a couple of scratches but works perfectly. I know it's usually around $130, so I grabbed it. Is this a good deal or did I get ripped off? Also, I'm new to sanding, any tips for a beginner?

Nice find, Tim! For $50, that's a steal. I've been a carpenter for 30 years and DeWalt makes solid tools. That sander will handle most DIY projects. Just remember to start with a coarse grit and work your way up. And always wear a mask - that dust will mess up your lungs. What are you planning to sand?

Yeah, that's a no-brainer. I have that same model and it's a workhorse. One thing I'd check is if it came with the dust bag or a vacuum adapter. If not, they're cheap online. Also, invest in good sandpaper - it makes a huge difference. I prefer the 3M Xtract or Diablo Mesh. You'll save time and get a smoother finish.

Thanks for the input, guys! It did come with the dust bag and a couple of sheets of sandpaper. I'm planning to sand an old dresser for my daughter's room. I'll definitely wear a mask and maybe a respirator. Appreciate the tips, I'll look into those sandpaper brands. Just gave me a reason to upgrade my dust collection too!

Good to hear! If you're doing a dresser, you'll want to strip it first if it has a finish. A chemical stripper or a heat gun will save you a lot of sanding time. And don't forget to sand in the direction of the wood grain for a pro look. Share some before/after pics when you're done!
