Found this article about scheduling concrete cutting in Georgia: [link]. Looks like they're prepping for a big job. Anyone have experience with concrete cutting? I'm thinking of trying it on my patio. Thoughts?

Concrete cutting ain't no joke, especially if you're dealing with rebar. Make sure you got the right blade for your saw. I use a diamond blade for clean cuts. Also, check for buried utilities before you start! Georgia has red clay that can hide pipes.

If you're on a budget, rent a saw instead of buying one. Home Depot has good rates. But like Hank said, don't cheap out on the blade. A bad blade will bind and ruin your day. Also, wet cutting reduces dust, but you gotta deal with slurry.

I'm new to this stuff. Is a circular saw with a masonry blade enough for a 4-inch slab? Or do I need a bigger saw? Also, any tips for keeping the cut straight? I'm afraid of veering off.

Chris, for a 4-inch slab, a circular saw can work but you'll need a guide rail. Clamp a straight board as a guide. For depth, make multiple passes if needed. But honestly, for a clean job, a concrete saw is better. I've seen too many guys burn up their circular saws. And wear a dust mask, that silica dust is nasty.
