Alright folks, I'm in the market for a new 7-1/4 circular saw. I've been going back and forth between the DeWalt DWE575 and the Makita 5007MG. I mostly do framing and deck work, but I also need something that can handle finer cuts. I care about accuracy, dust collection, and blade visibility. I've heard the Makita has a legendary build, but the DeWalt has a nicer dust port. Anyone have personal experience with both? Help me spend my money wisely!

I'm just a beginner, but I've used both on job sites. The Makita feels solid, like a tank. The blade guard is smooth and it's got that magnesium base that's durable. But the DeWalt is lighter, which makes a difference after a long day. Also, the dust collection is way better on the DeWalt – I didn't need a mask as much. But I'm no expert on accuracy, I'll leave that to the pros.

Listen, I've been a Makita guy for 20 years, and nothing beats their build quality. That 5007MG is a workhorse, it'll last you a lifetime. Sure, the dust port is a bit lacking, but you can rig something. The power is there, and the blade sightline is great. DeWalt is fine, but they've been riding on their name lately. You want precision? Makita all the way. Also, check the arbor size – the Makita uses a 5/8" which is standard, but some DeWalts use a different size, can be a pain if you have multiple blades.

Good points, Gary. The arbor thing is a valid consideration – I have a bunch of blades, so that could be an issue. But Wend, you mentioned the dust collection – that's a big deal for me. Does the Makita really spray chips everywhere? I've seen videos where it's like a blizzard, but maybe that's just user error. Also, any tips on adjusting the base for square? I've read mixed reviews on that.
