Hey guys, I'm in the market for a new cordless circular saw for framing. Can't decide between DeWalt 20V Max and Makita 18V LXT. Both have good reviews. I'm leaning towards Makita because of the lighter weight, but I've heard DeWalt has better torque. Any thoughts?

I've used both extensively. The Makita is smoother and more precise - the blade stays true even under load. DeWalt has a bit more grunt, but the ergonomics on Makita are better for me. Check the run time too. My Makita lasts longer on a charge.

I'm just an apprentice but I used my boss's Dewalt last week and it cut through some thick lumber like butter. But it was heavy. Makita felt nicer in the hand at the store. I'd go with what feels best for you.

Don't forget about the blade brake! Both have them, but I've seen a few Dewalts with laggy brakes. Safety first. Also, make sure you get a saw with a good riving knife if you're doing framing. That kickback can mess you up.
