Found a crazy deal on a DeWalt miter saw - too good to be true?

Hey guys, just scored a DeWalt 12" double bevel miter saw at a garage sale for $50. Guy said it was his dad's and he never used it. It looks brand new, but I'm skeptical. Anything specific I should check for? I'm not trying to get my fingers sliced off.

Nice find, Rick! For $50, even if it needs a tune-up it's a steal. Check the blade for dullness or wobble, make sure the bevel locks hold tight, and spin it up to listen for bearing noise. I've got a 20-year-old DeWalt that still cuts like new. If it's clean, you probably struck gold.

Rick, you lucky dog! I'd buy that in a heartbeat. But DrillMaster's right, inspect that blade guard and the brake. If it's a newer model with electric brake, test it. Also, pull the plug and look for any burnt wiring inside. Worst case, you could part it out and make triple your money on eBay.

Thanks guys. I checked it out more - blade is dead true, guard springs back nice, and the brake kicks in quick. No burnt smells or wobbles. I think I'm good! Gonna use it to frame my shed this weekend. Appreciate the advice.
