Hey folks, having a weird issue with my 18V cordless circular saw (brand new, only used 3 times). It keeps stalling when I'm cutting 2x4s - not even pressure treated, just regular pine. Battery shows full charge, but it bogs down and stops halfway through. No weird noises, just... dies. Anyone else dealt with this? Am I doing something wrong?

Larry, first thing - are you using the right blade? A dull blade or wrong tooth count will make any saw struggle. I've seen this a hundred times on job sites. Also, check if you're forcing the cut - let the saw do the work. If that's not it, could be a weak battery even if it shows full. Try a different battery if you have one.

Ooh, which model? I collect cordless tools and might have the same one. Some of the newer brushless models have electronic brakes that can act up if they overheat. Also, check the battery contacts - sometimes they get sawdust in them and don't make good connection. I've had to clean mine with contact cleaner a few times.

Before anything else - SAFETY. Unplug the battery completely. Check for any binding in the blade guard mechanism. I've investigated incidents where guards didn't retract properly, causing drag. Also, ensure you're using appropriate PPE - this sounds like a potential kickback scenario waiting to happen. Document everything in case you need to contact the manufacturer about a defect.

Thanks everyone! It's a DeWalt DCS570B. Paul - blade is the stock one that came with it, looks sharp. Sarah - good call on contacts, I'll check that. Larry371 - safety first, always! I did notice the guard seems a bit sticky... maybe that's it? I'll clean everything and try a different battery. Appreciate the help!
