Hey everyone, having a weird issue with my 18V cordless circular saw (brand X). It starts fine but keeps stalling halfway through cutting 2x4s. Battery shows full charge, no weird noises before it dies. Anyone dealt with this? It's driving me nuts on my deck project.

Seen this before back when I was on job sites. First thing - check your blade. Dull or dirty blade will bind and overload the motor. Also make sure you're not forcing the cut, let the saw do the work. If that's not it, could be the battery contacts need cleaning. Had a similar issue with my old drill last year.

What brand is it? If it's not a ProSeries tool, that's your problem right there. Their motors can't handle sustained loads. My ProSeries 20V has never stalled once in 3 years. Might be time to upgrade to something reliable. Their warranty is solid too if you're still covered.

Measure your blade alignment. Even 0.5° off perpendicular can cause binding. Also check the arbor nut torque - should be exactly 45 ft-lbs per the manual. Are you using the correct blade for pressure-treated lumber? The resin buildup could be your issue. Post your exact blade specs.

Sounds like voltage sag. Try a different battery even if it shows full. The BMS might be tripping under load. I modded my saw with a capacitor bank last year - zero stalls since. Also check the brushes if it's brushed motor. Could be worn unevenly. Got a multimeter?
