Hey everyone, having a weird issue with my DeWalt DCS570B circular saw. When I try to use it, it makes this high-pitched whining noise and then just stalls out. The battery shows full charge on the indicator, but it acts like it's dead after like 2 seconds of cutting. Tried two different 5Ah batteries, same thing. Anyone run into this before? It's only about a year old.

Oh man, that sounds frustrating! I had something similar with my old Ryobi - turned out it was sawdust packed in around the motor brushes. Have you tried blowing it out with compressed air? Also, are you using the same charger for both batteries? Maybe try a different charger if you have one, just to rule that out. Let us know!

Weekend warrior here - I've had battery issues too. Sometimes the battery contacts get corroded or dirty. Try cleaning the contacts on the saw and batteries with some rubbing alcohol and a q-tip. Also, are you storing your batteries in a hot garage? Heat can mess with them. My 2 cents.

As a DeWalt collector, I've seen this a few times. Could be the battery management system (BMS) in the batteries failing, even if they show full charge. Do you have access to a battery tester or multimeter? Check if they're actually holding voltage under load. Also, the DCS570B has a brushless motor - if it's making unusual noise, might be an ESC (electronic speed controller) issue. Might need professional repair if cleaning doesn't help.

Garage gearhead checking in. Steve and Mike have good points about cleaning, but Dan's onto something with the ESC. I've rebuilt a few of these. The whining then stall is classic symptom of either bad battery connection OR failing motor controller. Before you send it in: 1) Clean ALL contacts thoroughly 2) Try a FRESH battery (not just "full" indicator) 3) Listen if the noise changes when you tilt the saw - might be bearing issue. If none of that works, DeWalt service is pretty good under warranty. Keep us posted!
