Hey all, new here. Got a circular saw that's been working fine for months, but now it keeps stalling when I cut anything thicker than 2x4. It'll start fine, but as soon as I push into the wood, it slows down and stops. Battery is fully charged, blade is sharp. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hey OP, welcome. First thing I'd check is the blade direction - make sure it's spinning the right way. Also, could be the blade is binding due to a dull blade or a warped one. But if that's all good, might be the motor brushes wearing out. Open up the handle and look at the brushes - if they're short (less than 1/4 inch), replace 'em. You can get a pair for like $10.

I had a similar issue with my Makita. Turned out the battery was old and couldn't deliver enough current under load. If your battery is more than a couple years old, try a new one. Also, check the arbor nut isn't loose - that can cause stalling. Oh, and don't forget to lube the blade occasionally, helps with friction.

Gotta agree with FixItFelix on the brushes. That's a classic sign. But also, check the trigger switch - sometimes they get dirty or carboned up inside. A quick spray of contact cleaner can do wonders. And if all else fails, just buy a DeWalt - they never stall! 😂

Thanks guys! I'll check the brushes and try a fresh battery. I think the blade is ok, but I'll double-check the direction. Appreciate the quick replies!
