So yesterday I was cutting some old pipe with my circular saw, and I wasn't wearing safety glasses. Yeah, I know, stupid. A piece of metal flew up and hit me right in the eye. Luckily it just grazed my brow bone, but I got a nasty cut and now I look like a pirate. Lesson learned: ALWAYS wear your PPE. Even for a quick cut. Anyone else have a close call?

Dang Paul, glad you're okay! That could've been way worse. I've been doing this for 20+ years and I've seen too many guys get hurt because they thought 'it'll only take a second'. I never run a saw without at minimum safety glasses and ear pro. If you're doing a lot of cutting, get a full face shield. Trust me, it's worth it. Heal up man!

Hate to hear that Paul. I had a similar thing happen, but with a nail from a nail gun. Bounced and hit my safety glasses, cracked them. If I hadn't been wearing them, I'd probably be blind in one eye. So I'm a stickler for PPE now. Also, make sure your glasses are impact rated, not just cheap reading glasses. Get the ANSI Z87+ ones. And store them where you'll actually put them on, not in the truck.

Thanks guys. I've already ordered a couple pairs of the ANSI rated ones and I'm gonna grab a face shield too. Felix, you're right about storing them - mine were in the toolbox, which was useless. Now they're hooked right by the saw. Better safe than sorry!
