Saw this on SlashGear and thought of you guys. Some cool stuff but seems like a lot of gimmicks too. What do you think? Any of these actually worth the money for a weekend warrior like me? #12 Cool Gadgets Any Handyman Can Get Use Out Of

I skimmed the list. The laser level with the digital readout looks like a game changer, but I'd wait for the price to drop. As for that auto-retracting tape measure? Gimmick, I tell ya. Mine broke in a week. Stick to the basics, folks.

That electric screwdriver with the magnetic tip is actually pretty handy for those tight spots. Used one at my buddy's place. Not a must-have, but if you do a lot of furniture assembly, it'll save your wrists.

Good point, Felix. I have an old cordless drill that's heavy for small stuff. Might look into that screwdriver. Bob, you've got a point about the tape measure - the classic ones never let you down.

Exactly, Dave. And if you're thinking about safety, that gadget with the IR thermometer? Useful for checking electrical panels for hot spots before working. But don't forget your PPE - safety first!
