Hey guys, I’m torn between the DeWalt DCF601 and the Makita DF001DW. Need a compact screwdriver for tight spaces in my garage. Any experience with these?

Go with the DeWalt, Felix! I’ve been using the DCF601 on renovations for a year. It’s got great torque for its size, and the magnetic bit holder is a life saver. Makita’s is fine, but DeWalt feels more durable.

Hold up, Dan. I’ve seen too many Dewalts with chuck issues after heavy use. Makita’s brushless motor is smoother and the battery life is better. Plus, the LED light on the Makita is actually useful. My 2 cents as a safety guy: get the Makita.

I own both actually. For pure driving power, DeWalt wins hands down. But Makita is lighter and better for detailed woodworking. So depends on what you do. If it’s just screws in your garage, either will do. Flip a coin?

Thanks all! I think I’ll go with the DeWalt for the torque. Appreciate the input, especially the safety tip Bob. I’ll keep an eye on the chuck.
