Hey everyone, I'm in the market for a new impact driver and I'm torn between DeWalt and Makita. I've heard great things about both, but I can't decide. I mostly do light to medium duty DIY stuff - building shelves, assembling furniture, some deck repairs. I want something that's reliable and won't break the bank. Any thoughts?

I've used both, and honestly, you can't go wrong. But if you're doing light to medium stuff, I'd say go with the Makita. The 18V LXT is super lightweight and comfortable to handle for long periods. DeWalt is a tank, but it's a bit heavier. Plus, Makita's got a great track record for battery life.

I'm with Tim on this one. I have the Makita XDT13 and it's been a beast. The variable speed trigger is so smooth, and it's got enough torque for any screw I've thrown at it. Plus, I love that the batteries are interchangeable with other Makita tools - I've got a drill and a circular saw that use the same ones.

Thanks for the input, guys! I was leaning towards Makita but I just saw a deal on a DeWalt kit that includes two batteries and a charger for almost the same price as the bare Makita. Is it worth jumping on that deal, or should I stick with my gut and go Makita?

If you're getting a good deal on DeWalt, I'd say go for it. The batteries and charger alone make it worth it, and you can always grab a Makita later if you want. Just make sure it's the newer brushless model if you can. Those are way more efficient.
