I've been going back and forth between the DeWalt DCF887 and Makita XDT16 for weeks. The precision control on the Makita seems better for delicate work, but DeWalt's ergonomics fit my hand perfectly. Anyone else torn? Need real-world feedback.

I got the DeWalt last year, its a tank. Dropped it off a ladder once and it still runs like new. But I hear Makita has smoother trigger control for those tight spots. My buddy swears by his Makita for cabinet work.

In the field, I see more DeWalts on job sites. They can take a beating and parts are everywhere. But the Makita XDT16 has that auto-stop feature for over-torquing. For production work, that's a game changer. I'm sticking with DeWalt for now though, 'cause my whole cordless kit is yellow.

From a restoration standpoint, I need precision more than raw power. Makita's 4-speed settings let me dial in exactly what I need for old, brittle wood. DeWalt's more powerful but can be overkill. Plus, the Makita has a better LED light for dark cabinets. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks all! Sounds like I need to test them both with my tools. The Makita precision might win out for my furniture builds. But if I ever go pro, DeWalt's durability is hard to beat. Decisions, decisions...
