Hey everyone, was browsing the usual online spots and stumbled on this 100-piece screwdriver set from 'ProGrip Tools' for like $29.99. Normally I'd jump on it, but never heard of the brand. Anyone have experience with them? Seems like a steal for that many drivers, but worried they might be junk.

ProGrip? Hmm, sounds like one of those generic import brands. I've restored a few old sets that had similar branding - usually the tips are soft steel and strip easily, especially on Phillips heads. For $30, you might get some use out of them for light tasks, but if you're working on anything vintage or delicate, I'd pass. Better to invest in a quality 6-piece set from a known brand.

Larry, I feel you - I almost bought a similar set last year for my garage reorg. Ended up going with a DeWalt 20-piece instead (on sale for $40). The handles on those cheap ones can be super uncomfortable after a few screws, and the magnetization is weak. If it's just for occasional Ikea furniture, maybe worth it, but for real DIY? I'd save up a bit more.

Thanks guys. Sparky - good point about the tips, I didn't think about stripping. Dan, the DeWalt set is actually on my wishlist lol. Maybe I'll skip this and wait for a Black Friday deal on something reputable. Appreciate the reality check!

Smart move. If you want a budget option that won't fail immediately, check out Husky or Craftsman's basic sets - they're often around $20-30 for 15-20 pieces and have lifetime warranties. Still not pro-grade, but better than mystery metal. Let us know what you end up with!
