Hey everyone! Just wanted to share a quick safety tip. Yesterday I was using a flathead screwdriver to pry open a stubborn paint can (I know, I know, not the right tool, but it was handy), and the tip slipped and flew right past my face. If I hadn't been wearing my safety glasses, I could've lost an eye! Seriously, it's easy to think screwdrivers are harmless, but they can slip and cause serious injuries. Always wear your PPE, even for 'simple' tasks!

Great reminder! As an electrician, I've seen too many close calls. Even with insulated screwdrivers, you can slip and hit a live wire or something. I always wear safety glasses AND I make sure my screwdrivers have good handles with a decent grip. And for prying, use a pry bar, not a screwdriver! The tip can snap and go flying. Stay safe out there!

Agreed 100%! I collect vintage screwdrivers and some of them have seen better days, but when I use any screwdriver, I treat it like a weapon that could go off anytime. I actually have a funny story: once I was using a screwdriver to open a paint can (I'm guilty too, Wendy!) and the tip broke. It ricocheted off the wall and nearly hit my buddy. Now I have a dedicated paint can opener! Safety glasses are non-negotiable, folks. Even if you're just tightening a loose screw on a cabinet door, wear them! Also, make sure you're using the right size/type for the screw to avoid slipping.

Haha, glad I'm not the only one who's done the paint can trick! But yeah, I've started to check my screwdrivers for damage like chipped tips or cracked handles. I actually have a few old ones that I keep just for prying, but now I'm gonna mark them as 'not for regular use' or just get a proper pry bar. Safety first, always!
