Hey folks, just had a close call in the shop - was driving a stubborn screw and the driver slipped, nearly took a chunk out of my hand. Got me thinking: what PPE do you all use with screwdrivers? I usually just wear safety glasses, but maybe I'm missing something. Woodworking can be unpredictable!

Good topic! In the garage, I always wear mechanics gloves when using screwdrivers, especially on rusty car parts or tight spaces. They protect against cuts and give better grip. Also, safety glasses are a must - had a screw head chip once and it flew right at my face. Saved my eye!

Professionally, we require cut-resistant gloves (Level 2 or higher) for any screwdriver work on-site. Too many hand injuries from slips. Also, if you're using impact drivers or power screwdrivers, hearing protection matters - those repetitive clicks add up. And never underestimate good lighting to see what you're doing.

Thanks both! Never thought about gloves for basic screwdrivers, but it makes sense. DIYDave538 - any specific glove brands you recommend? And ContractorCarl176, good point about garage work - I bet those rusty bolts are tricky!

We use Mechanix Wear or similar - durable and decent dexterity. For woodworking, consider gloves with padded palms if you're doing lots of hand-driving. And remember: if a screw won't budge, stop and reassess. Forcing it is when most injuries happen. Pre-drill properly and use the right driver tip!
