Hey guys, just found a deal at my local hardware store - a 5-piece ratcheting screwdriver set for only $20. Normally they go for like $50. I'm a weekend warrior, so I don't need top-tier stuff, but this seems too good to pass up. Anyone have experience with these? Worth it or should I save my money?

I've had a ratcheting set for years, best thing for quick furniture assembly and cabinet work. $20 is a steal if it's decent quality. Just check that the ratchet mechanism feels solid and the bits don't slip. I've got a Wera set, but for the price, I'd say go for it. What brand is it?

Honestly, for $20, even if it breaks in a year, you got your money's worth. I'm a garage guy, always wrenching on my truck, and I use a ratcheting screwdriver all the time. Just make sure the handle is comfortable and the bits are standard hex so you can replace them if needed. I'd say buy it and don't look back.

I've restored a bunch of old tools, and I've seen some crappy ratcheting mechanisms that strip out fast. But $20 is a gamble worth taking. If it's a known brand like Stanley or Craftsman, you're good. If it's some no-name Chinese brand, it might be hit or miss. Either way, you can always return it if it's junk. Just keep the receipt, Dave.
