Hey guys, my DCD996 just stopped charging. The battery indicator flashes 3 times then nothing. Tried on a different charger same thing. Batteries are 5Ah XR. Any ideas?

First check the contacts on the battery and tool. I've seen sawdust build up cause issues. Also try resetting the battery by holding the button for 10 sec. If that dont work it might be a dead cell.

I had a similar issue with a 60V FlexVolt. Turned out one of the cells was bad. If you have a multimeter check voltage on the terminals. Should be around 18-20 for a fully charged 20V. Anything lower and its toast.

Dewalt customer service is decent. If its under warranty they might replace it. But honestly Ive been switching to Milwaukee for the M18 system. Their batteries seem more reliable.

Thanks for the tips. Checked the voltage, getting 15V on one battery and 18 on another. The 15V one is the problem. Guess I need a new battery. Any recomended replacement or should I just go OEM?
