Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my impact driver. I've narrowed it down to the DeWalt DCF887 or the Makita XDT16. I do a lot of deck building and some light framing. Which one has better torque and battery life in your experience? I'm leaning Makita but the DeWalt has that quick release chuck... Thoughts?

I've used both. The Makita XDT16 is a beast, tons of torque and very little vibration. But DeWalt's DCF887 is lighter and has that great LED light. Battery life is similar imo. If you're doing decks all day, weight might matter. I'd go DeWalt for comfort, but Makita for raw power.

Team Yellow all the way! DeWalt's 20V system is unbeatable. I've had my DCF887 for 3 years, dropped it off a ladder, still works like new. Makita is good, but their batteries are bulky. Plus DeWalt's tools just feel better in hand. Get the DeWalt, you won't regret it.

Listen, I've been a carpenter since the 80s. Both are fine tools. But the real question is which battery platform you already have. If you're starting fresh, pick one and stick with it. Personally, I run DeWalt because my whole crew does. The DCF887 is a workhorse. But don't sleep on Makita's build quality. Test them at the store if you can.
