Hey y'all, I'm torn between getting the new DeWalt 60V framing nailer or the Makita 18V X2. I do a lot of metal connector work and some tough framing. Any opinions on which holds up better over time? I've heard mixed things about the DeWalt jams, but Makita's battery system is heavier. Thoughts?

I've been using the Makita for about a year now. Yeah the batteries are bulky but it's a tank. Never jammed once, even in pressure treated. DeWalt has more power but I've seen guys on site struggling with jams in cold weather. Also Makita's warranty system is simpler. Just my 2 cents.

Quick safety note: whatever you choose, make sure it has a no-mar tip. I've seen too many dings on finish work. Also, check if your tool has a selective actuation trigger - some models don't and that's a no-go for bump firing on a ladder. DeWalt's 60V has it standard, Makita's X2 does too but verify.

Noob question - do these nailers need special air compressors or are they fully cordless? I'm still learning and want to avoid buying extra gear. Also, what's the deal with the DeWalt battery running on 60V but Makita using two 18V's? Does that make a big difference?

Thanks for the feedback! Larry, they're both fully cordless, no compressor needed. DeWalt's 60V is actually two 30V cells or something, but it's marketing - both drive into LVL fine. I think I'm leaning Makita for reliability. Appreciate the help!
