Hey guys, I found a used Festool Domino DF 500 for $300 locally. Barely used. I know these are expensive new. I'm just an apprentice and not sure if I should jump on it. Is it worth it for a hobbyist? Or is it overkill? Let me know!

Festool? Overpriced green junk if you ask me. For that money you could get a Makita biscuit joiner and a bunch of biscuits. But hey, if you like paying for the fancy systainer, go for it. I'll stick with my Makita.

Will, that's a steal if it's legit. I've been using the Domino for years in my carpentry. It's a game changer for joinery. But as a hobbyist, think about how much you'll use it. If you do furniture or cabinets, it's worth every penny. Check for dust in the motor and make sure the fence is square. At that price, I'd buy it even if I didn't need it.

Thanks Bob! I do a lot of weekend projects and want to start building tables. The deal seems solid. Mike, I get you, but I've heard the Festool is super precise. Maybe I'll grab it and resell if I don't like it? Ha.

Resell value on Festool is good. Just don't tell Mike I said that. If you get it, pick up some dominos online and you'll be set. Let us know how it goes!
