So I was using my new circular saw without the blade guard engaged (i know, i know) and the kickback almost sent my hand into the blade. Got a nice gash on my glove but it coulda been way worse. PSA: always wear gloves and keep guards on!

Oof, glad you're ok. I never skip gloves even for quick cuts. But honestly, I'd recommend getting some cut-resistant ones. They're cheap and can save your digits. Also, check your saw's riving knife—it helps prevent kickback.

I second the cut-resistant gloves. I use a pair with nitrile coating for grip. Also, invest in a quality push stick for table saws. I nearly had a similar incident with a miter saw—now I never bypass safety features. Live and learn.

Thanks for the wake-up call Steve. I've been guilty of rushing jobs. Quick question: any recommendations for safety glasses that don't fog up? Mine always fog when I'm sweating.

Dave, I use Dewalt anti-fog glasses. They work pretty well. Also, if you're doing anything with flying debris, grab a face shield. And yeah, I'm def getting cut-resistant gloves now after that close call.
