Hey everyone, I know this is a specialty tools forum but I came across this article and thought it was worth sharing. C2N Diagnostics is entering the South Korean market through a partnership with BeauBrain Healthcare to offer their PrecivityTM blood tests for Alzheimer's. It's not exactly a power tool, but it's a specialized diagnostic tool, right? Anyway, here's the link: [link]. What do you all think? Could this be a game-changer for early detection? Or is it just another overpriced test? Curious to hear your thoughts.

Interesting share, Felix352. I'm all for tools that get the job done, and if this blood test can accurately diagnose Alzheimer's, that's a pretty important tool in a doctor's kit. But I'm skeptical about the cost and accessibility. I mean, how much does it cost? And will insurance cover it? I remember when I bought my first Milwaukee drill, I thought it was expensive, but this is on another level. Also, is it FDA approved? I'd want to see some solid data before trusting it.

Hey FixItFelix352, thanks for posting. As a safety inspector, I'm all about prevention and early detection. If this test can catch Alzheimer's early, that's a huge safety win for patients and their families. But I gotta ask: how reliable is it? False positives could cause unnecessary stress, and false negatives could give false hope. Also, what's the procedure? Is it just a simple blood draw? If so, that's way better than invasive tests. But I'd want to see the sensitivity and specificity stats. And yeah, cost is a big concern. Hopefully, they make it affordable.

Following up on my previous post, I did a quick search and found that C2N's PrecivityAD test is already available in the US and has been used for a few years. It's a blood test that measures amyloid beta ratios. It's not a cure, but it can help docs diagnose. Still, it's not cheap – around $1,250 out of pocket, though some insurance may cover it. And now they're expanding to South Korea. I think it's a step in the right direction, but I wish the price would come down. Maybe with more competition, it will. Anyway, just my two cents.

Thanks for the extra info, Felix753. $1,250 is steep, but if it saves families from the agony of uncertainty, it might be worth it. I just hope they don't price it out of reach for most people. Also, I wonder if there are any DIY alternatives? Probably not, but you never know. In any case, it's good to see progress in this area. Maybe one day we'll have a simple test like a glucose monitor. Until then, I'll stick to my power tools. :)
