Hey all, just a friendly reminder from someone who learned the hard way. I was using my new nail gun yesterday without safety glasses because I was in a hurry, and a nail ricocheted off a knot in the wood and hit me right in the eye. Luckily it was just a scratch, but it could have been so much worse. Don't be like me - always wear your PPE, especially when you're in a rush. Your eyesight is not worth saving 30 seconds.

Ouch! That's scary, Sarah. Glad you're okay. I'm guilty of skipping the glasses sometimes too, especially on quick jobs. But you're right, it's not worth the risk. I've actually started keeping a pair of safety glasses on every workbench and in my tool bag so I have no excuse not to grab them. Thanks for the reminder!

Great advice, Sarah. As a contractor, I've seen way too many accidents from guys who think they're invincible. I always wear a full face shield when using nail guns or any tool that could send debris flying. It's not just about vision - it's about protecting your whole face. And honestly, if you're a professional and you don't wear PPE, you're setting a bad example for the DIYers. Stay safe, everyone.

I'll add to this - it's not just about the glasses, but also hearing protection and a dust mask. I work with a lot of old wood, and the dust can be nasty. Even on quick jobs, I pop in earplugs and a mask. And for those who wear prescription glasses, you can get over-glasses that fit over them, or prescription safety glasses. Worth every penny.
