Alright, I was browsing FB Marketplace and found a DeWalt 12" sliding compound miter saw (DWS780) for only $200. The seller says it's barely used, comes with the stand and a couple blades. I've been eyeing this model for a while, new it's like $600+. I'm thinking about pulling the trigger, but I'm a bit wary – it might be stolen or a lemon. What do you guys think? Should I go for it?

Rick, I've been using the DWS780 for years on job sites. It's a beast – super accurate and the sliding mechanism is smooth. $200 is a steal, even if it's a bit rough. But you're right to be cautious. Ask for a demo before you hand over cash. Check the laser, make sure the blade spins true, and look for any wobble in the slide. Also, check the serial number online to see if it's reported stolen. If it checks out, grab it. You won't regret it.

Man, that price is insane! I paid full price for mine a couple years ago. But I agree with Sarah – definitely test it. Also, make sure the brushes in the motor aren't shot. Listen for any grinding when it spins up. And don't forget to haggle if there's any issue. Even if you have to put a new blade on it, you're still ahead. Just be careful it's not hot. My buddy got burned once – bought a table saw cheap, turned out it was stolen, and he had to give it back to the cops. Not fun.

Good points, thanks! I'm gonna message the seller and ask for a demo. He said he's a contractor upgrading to a cordless setup, so that sounds legit. But I'll definitely check the serial and give it a good once over. If it works out, I'll be posting pics of my crown molding project soon!

Nice! Let us know how it goes. And if you need tips on tuning the miter stops, I've got a few tricks. That saw is a keeper for sure.
