Summed up: "# 5 Things Every Mechanic Will Want In Their Garage That Aren't Power Tools

In the modern automotive repair era, power tools often dominate the workspace. Air compressors hum, and cordless impact gun..."

What do you guys think? I've been turning wrenches for 40 years and I still reach for my old trusty combo wrenches more than anything. Curious what the young guns think.

Good find, Gary. I've been restoring old cars for 20 years and let me tell you, you can pry my flare nut wrenches from my cold dead hands. Power tools are great but they round off more bolts than they loosen. A good set of 6-point box ends will save your knuckles and your sanity.

I run a construction crew and we still keep a full set of combination wrenches in every truck. Battery dies, air hose kinks, but a wrench never fails. That article probably mentions a good ratcheting wrench too. I switched to gearwrench style a few years back and never looked back. Faster than a socket in tight spots.

What brand of wrenches do you guys recommend? I'm just a weekend warrior but I'm tired of cheap ones slipping. Also that article probably lists stuff like a good flashlight and knee pads, which honestly are underrated. But yeah, wrenches are #1 for me.

Larry, for the money you can't beat Tekton or GearWrench. SK is nice but pricey. And yeah, the article actually had a decent list: 1. Quality wrenches, 2. Magnetic tray, 3. Work light, 4. Rolling stool, 5. Service manual. Not bad. But I'd add a BFH. Just in case.
