Starting a new deck project this weekend. Got some heavy-duty bolts for the ledger board and posts. My old crescent wrench keeps slipping. What do you guys recommend? Need something that can handle torque without rounding heads.

For precision and no slip-ups, get a set of combination wrenches with anti-slip design. I use Proto or Snap-on – pricey but the jaw design grabs flats, not corners. Also, a breaker bar for initial loosening. Don't cheap out on fasteners either.

I'd say go with a decent ratcheting wrench set. Saved me so much time on my shed. Gearwrench makes a good affordable set. But for the ledger bolts, maybe a impact wrench? Harbor freight has a cheap one that works fine for occasional use.

Thanks guys! I think I'll go with the Gearwrench set and maybe a breaker bar. @DrillMaster883, I wish I had Snap-on money lol. Any tips on not stripping the bolts?

Clean the threads with a wire brush, use anti-seize on stainless bolts. And always use the right size – metric vs standard. Check if your bolts are grade 5 or 8. For deck ledgers, I'd use carriage bolts with washers, but that's just me.
