Hey everyone! Starting a redwood deck project next week and need to buy a good wrench set. I'll be using mainly stainless steel bolts and lag screws. I already have a decent socket set but need some wrenches for tight spaces. Any recommendations? Budget is around $100-150. Thanks!

Forget the budget sets, man. You gotta get yourself a good set of gear wrenches – the ones with the ratcheting box end. I've been using Craftsman's ever since I started and they've never failed me. The 12-point ones are great for stubborn bolts. Spend the extra cash, you'll thank me later.

Craftsman is solid, but if you're really gonna be in tight spots (like between joists), check out the flex-head ratcheting wrenches. I got a set from GearWrench and they're a lifesaver. Also, get a pry bar and a mallet – you'll need 'em to persuade those bolts if they get corroded.

I'm a Milwaukee guy all the way. Their wrenches are tough and have that nice finish. But honestly, for a deck, you don't need a full set – just get the sizes you'll actually use. 1/2, 9/16, 3/4, and maybe 7/16. That'll save you some bucks. And don't forget a torque wrench if you're tightening anything structural!

Torque wrench is a must – you don't want to over-tighten and strip those stainless bolts. I'd also recommend a set of combination wrenches with anti-slip open ends. They grip better on rounded bolts. And if you're going redwood, make sure you use hot-dipped galvanized or stainless fasteners – regular steel will react and stain the wood. Good luck!
