Hey guys, my DeWalt 20V max impact wrench won't charge. Battery light flashes three times when I put it on the charger. Tried different outlets, no luck. It's the 5Ah XR battery. Anyone had this issue? I'm thinking maybe the charger's toast.

Before you buy a new charger, check the battery contacts. Sometimes they get dirty or bent. Also, make sure the battery isn't too hot. If it's been sitting in the sun, let it cool down. If that doesn't work, try a friend's charger to see if it's the battery or charger.

I had a similar issue with my Makita. Turned out one of the cells went bad. If it's under warranty, DeWalt might replace it. Otherwise, you can try to revive it by putting it on a slow charge (like a 1A charger) for a few hours. But be careful not to overheat it.

I'm cheap, so I'd try cleaning the contacts with a pencil eraser first. Also, check if the charger has a reset button? Some do. If all else fails, Harbor Freight has cheap chargers that might work in a pinch. Not as good as OEM but gets the job done.

Thanks everyone. I cleaned the contacts and let the battery cool. No change. Borrowed my neighbor's DeWalt charger and it worked, so it's the charger. Gonna order a replacement. Appreciate the help!
