DeWalt vs Makita Wrenches - Which holds up better for daily pro use?

Hey folks, I'm looking at upgrading my wrench set and stuck between DeWalt and Makita. I'm a contractor doing everything from framing to finish work, so these wrenches get used hard daily. Need something that won't round off bolts after a few months. Anyone have long-term experience with either brand's wrenches?

Retired carpenter here - used both over 40 years. Makita wrenches have better chrome plating, less rust issues in damp conditions. But DeWalt's newer stuff has tighter tolerances on the open ends. If you're working outdoors a lot, I'd lean Makita. Their 12-point box ends saved me on many frozen bolts.

Rick's right about the rust resistance! I do full home renos and my Makita set has been through 3 years of basements, attics, and outdoor projects without pitting. That said, DeWalt's warranty is better - they replaced a ratcheting wrench no questions asked when the mechanism got gritty. What specific wrench types are you looking at, Dan? Combination, ratcheting, or specialty?

Precision matters here. Measured both brands with calipers - DeWalt's metric wrenches are consistently within 0.01mm of spec, Makita varies up to 0.03mm. For automotive or machinery work where exact fit prevents rounding, DeWalt wins. But for general construction where you're cranking on pipes and structural bolts, Makita's slight play might actually help with worn fasteners.

Thanks all! Wendy - mainly combination wrenches 8-19mm and 1/4-3/4. Rick662's precision point is huge for me since I do a lot of equipment repair too. Leaning DeWalt for the tighter tolerances and warranty, but gonna check Makita's anti-rust claims at the supply house tomorrow. Appreciate the real-world insights!
