Hey all, I stumbled on a set of 6 Crescent adjustable wrenches (4" to 12") for $40 at a garage sale. They look barely used, but I'm a pipe wrench guy myself. Are these any good for general DIY? Should I grab 'em?

Adjustable wrenches? Yuck. They're notorious for rounding bolts if you're not careful. But for $40, that's a steal for 6 of 'em. I'd say get them for quick jobs where you don't want to dig out your whole socket set. Just don't torque on 'em hard.

I've restored a few Crescent wrenches from that era. They're solid tools if the jaws aren't worn. Check for play in the adjuster screw. If they're tight, $40 is a great deal. I'd buy 'em even just for the wall art!

Thanks for the input! I think I'll swing back and grab them. The adjusters felt smooth. Worst case I have backups for the shop. Appreciate the advice!
