Hey all, just stumbled on a 24-piece combination wrench set from HarborPro Tools for only $39.99 at my local hardware outlet. Normally see these going for like $80+. The finish looks decent in the box, but I'm wondering about the tolerances - anyone have experience with this brand? I'm all about precision fitting, don't want something that'll round off bolt heads. Should I jump on this?

Dave, before you buy ANYTHING, check for safety certifications. HarborPro is an import brand - make sure it's ASTM or ANSI compliant. I've seen cheap wrenches crack under torque and send shrapnel flying. Also, inspect the packaging for proper labeling about max torque ratings. No deal is worth a trip to the ER.

lol Will always with the safety lecture! Dave, I used a HarborPro set on a bathroom reno last year. For $40, they're surprisingly not terrible. The 10mm went missing after 2 months (shocker), but the others held up to light plumbing work. Just don't expect them to last like your Snap-ons. If you're doing occasional DIY stuff, they'll get the job done.

Thanks both. Will - good call, I'll check for ASTM marks. Sparky - how was the fit on the bolt heads? Any slop or did they seat nicely? I'm mostly working on small engine repairs where clearance is tight.

If it's for small engines, Dave, I'd recommend spending more on a quality set. Those bolts are often soft metal and cheap wrenches will damage them. Look for broaching quality - the internal machining should be sharp, not rounded. HarborPro likely uses cheaper forging processes. Remember: buy once, cry once.
