So I'm browsing FB Marketplace and this guy is selling a set of Snap-on ratcheting wrenches for $150. They look pretty clean in the pics. I'm just a weekend warrior, but I know Snap-on ain't cheap. Is that a good deal or should I pass?

Snap-on? $150 for a set? That's either stolen or a scam. No way a set of those goes for that low unless they're fakes. I'd be careful. Snap-on is the best but you gotta pay to play. Stick with something like Gearwrench if you want value.

I've restored a few old Snap-on sets. If they're legit, $150 is a steal. Check for the part numbers and ask for close-ups of the stamping. The ratcheting mechanism can wear out but they're rebuildable. I'd jump on it if they're real.

Even if they're real, ratcheting wrenches have a lot of slop in the mechanism. For precision work I prefer fixed wrenches or at least a high-quality brand like Hazet. But for general use, $150 isn't bad if they're in good shape. Just check the pawl engagement.
