Hey guys, my 18V impact wrench (Makita) suddenly won't charge. Light on the charger blinks once then goes off. Battery is about a year old. Any troubleshooting tips before I toss it?

First, check the charger contacts – dirt or corrosion can cause that. Also try another battery if you have one. If it's the battery, it might be a dead cell. Don't toss it yet, some shops rebuild them.

I had a similar issue with my Dewalt. Turned out the battery contacts were bent. Use a small screwdriver to gently pry them up. Also, leave the battery on the charger for a full 24h sometimes resets the BMS.

Oh man that sucks! My neighbor had that problem and it was a loose wire inside the charger. He opened it up and resoldered it. But be careful if you do that – watch some YouTube vids first. Good luck!
