Hey guys, I just got a new Ryobi 18V impact wrench and the battery won't charge. It's the P238, and I used it once, worked great. Put the battery on the charger and the light just stays green even though it's dead. Is there a way to fix this or should I return it? I already tried reseating the battery.

That sucks, I had a similar issue with a Dewalt once. Have you checked the contacts on the battery and charger? Sometimes there's a little plastic tab that gets stuck. Also, try a hard reset: hold the battery button for 10 seconds. If that doesn't work, I'd just return it while it's still under warranty.

Before you return it, check if the charger works with another battery. Might be the charger is bad, not the battery. Also, clean the contacts with alcohol. But honestly, if it's new, just take it back to Home Depot. They're good about exchanges. No point messing around with a potential fire hazard.

Good ideas. I don't have another battery to test. Tried cleaning contacts with a pencil eraser, still no luck. I'll just return it today. Thanks for the help!

Glad to help. FYI, Ryobi batteries are known to have issues if stored in the cold. Keep them inside your house next time. And maybe get a second battery so you always have a charged one.
