So I was browsing Craigslist and found a full set of Snap-On combination wrenches, sizes 8mm to 24mm, for $150. The guy says he's moving and needs to sell fast. I know these usually go for $500+. I'm tempted to jump on it, but it seems sketchy. Could be stolen or fake. What do you guys think? Should I go for it?

I'd be careful, Felix. That price is almost too good to be true. I once bought a 'deal' on some tools and they turned out to be cheap knockoffs. Check the engravings and feel the weight. Real Snap-On have a certain heft. Also, ask if you can meet in a public place and inspect before handing over cash. If he's legit, it's a steal. If not, you're out $150.

Honestly, I'd skip it. Snap-On is overpriced anyway, even at $150. My Makita wrench set has lasted me years and cost half that at retail. But if you're a Snap-On fan, just make sure the part numbers match up. You can look up the set number online. And if it's stolen, you might be buying trouble. Better to wait for a sale at a reputable store.

Thanks guys. I did meet him at a gas station, checked the wrenches – they feel legit, heavy, with clear markings. But I noticed the set number was scratched off on one wrench, which is a red flag. I walked away. I'd rather pay full price than deal with potential issues. Appreciate the advice!
