So I'm driving past this yard sale this morning and I spot a red Milwaukee tool bag. I stop and peek inside - it's a full set of ratcheting combination wrenches, 8mm to 19mm, and the guy wants 40 bucks. I checked them out, they look solid, no rust, and the ratchets feel smooth. I got them immediately. Feels like a steal, but I'm wondering if they're legit or maybe stolen? What do you guys think?

Nice grab! But I'd check the model numbers. If they're the older USA-made ones, those are top-notch. The new Chinese ones are okay but not as good. Also, make sure the ratcheting mechanism is clean - you might want to open one up and re-grease it. If they're genuine, you saved like $200. I'd be suspicious of fakes though. You can tell by the stamping and the feel of the mechanism. But for $40, even if they're not perfect, they're a bargain. Just check for any defects that would make them unusable.

I've restored a few sets like that. If they're Milwaukee, they're usually solid. Even if they're a bit worn, a little TLC goes a long way. Take them apart, clean with solvent, and use a good lithium grease. They'll work like new. And don't worry about stolen - yard sales are the best place to find great deals. Some people just don't know what they have. Enjoy them, man!

Dude, that's an epic find! I'm a Milwaukee fan myself (don't tell my DeWalt spirit). I've got a set of those and they're my go-to for most jobs. The ratcheting action is smooth, and the combination works well. For 40 bucks, you practically stole them. I'd say definitely worth it. Just double check the sizes - sometimes metric sets have some weird ones like 10mm and 12mm that are essential. Congrats, and now you'll have extra cash for the next project!
