Just had a close call with my impact wrench. Was zapping off a rusty bolt and the socket slipped, smashing my knuckle into the frame. Good thing I had gloves on or it would've been worse. Always wear your PPE people! Just a friendly reminder.

Ouch! Glad you're OK. I always double check the socket retention ring before using impacts. Even a cheap impact can twist a loose socket off. Also, those anti-vibration gloves are worth the money, IMO.

Any recommendations for decent impact rated sockets on a budget? I've been using my old chrome ones and I know that's bad but they were cheap. Also, are there gloves that don't cost an arm and a leg?

For sockets, check out Tekton or Sunex. They're affordable and impact rated. For gloves, I got a pair of Mechanix Wear Originals for like $20. Not anti-vib but saved my knuckles today!

Good recs from Tim. I'll add that you can often find impact socket sets on sale at Harbor Freight if you don't need pro level. Their Pittsburgh Pro line is decent. Just avoid no-name ebay sets, seen those shatter.
